Wed, June 17, 2009 - 11:27 AMMadison is an awesome town...my brother used to live there. I believe Blue Lotus Tribe in Chicago has some connections there, so if you contacted their tribe they could hook you up! -

Fri, June 19, 2009 - 9:39 PMLayers, Sweetie!
"Technical" fabric (like underarmor, and its immitators) for the base layer, then a fleece layer, then a breathable, waterproof outer layer.
Oh, and GOOD gloves! Not to mention a good hat and scarf. When the temps. drop, you will want a scarf to breathe through!
Keep warm! (that sounds so weird, since we were at 102' here the other day!) -

Thu, July 16, 2009 - 6:19 PMCan't help with the scene, other than that there definitely is one (smallish, active, well-regarded from over here in MN).
Re: cold weather gear - depends on what you're doing, but generally I recommend putting good, waterproof winter boots #1 on your to-buy list. Good gloves are second (but don't spend tons unless you KNOW you're not a glove-loser).
Coats, hats, scarves, and layers you can do on the cheap. I actually got through my first Minnesota winter without a proper coat at all, but I wouldn't recommend it!

Re: Moving to Madison, Wisconsin
Wed, July 15, 2009 - 4:19 PMHi Dawn!
I'm a bellydancer in Madison, WI, and if you have any questions - feel free to pm me!
A good place to go check out the local professional dancers is Mediterranean Hookah Lounge, 77 Sirloin Strip, Madison, WI. There are bellydance shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 and 9:30 pm.
A good website to check out is Madison Bellydance Alliance's website: www.madisonbellydance.org/
Madison Belliance Alliance is an alliance of all the different teachers, students, and styles in town. The MBDA hosts haflas about twice a year, and it is a good place to meet local dancers and students.
MBDA also has a google group: groups.google.com/group/Mad...ceAlliance
There is a lot of local information exchanged here about dancers in the community, events, and other stuff.
Hope this helps! I look forward to meeting you at a local event!
