Folks,
I seem to recall a few months ago a discussion thread on the topic of music editing software. I thought I had bookmarked it. Unfortunately, I can't find the bookmark anywhere (damned browser!). Some of you recommended a free music editing software app and I cannot for the life of me recall what it was. Does anyone remember?
Any responses will be much appreciated.

Re: Does anyone recall a thread on music editing software?
Wed, October 21, 2009 - 10:51 PMHrm, there are lots of different ones. Do you have a Pc or a MAC? I have a PC and use WavePad Sound Editor, it was free and works quite well, I use it all the time. I know Handbrake is popular with MAC users I know, I couldn't figure it out for the life of me.
The robots are not my friends and I am a total mess with technology so if I can use it, anyone can. Hope this is helpful! xoxoK

Thu, October 22, 2009 - 2:52 AMSeconding the Audacity thing. It's fairly point & click, so easy to use. For my uber editing jobs I ask a friend who has a talent for this sort of thing. -

Re: Does anyone recall a thread on music editing software?
Thu, October 22, 2009 - 8:22 AMI use Audacity, and it's odd, sometimes I can figure out what to do and other times I can't.
For me it's not intuitive at all. Or else my intuition comes and goes. :) -

Thu, October 22, 2009 - 9:14 PMI use Audacity and I agree it can be less than intuitive. I find the wiki page VERY helpful: wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php -

Fri, October 23, 2009 - 11:50 AMI didn't get Audacity at all until I took a really great workshop with DJ Amar. -

Sat, October 24, 2009 - 11:50 AMThanks for all the responses!
I'm on the fence about going the free Audacity route vs. buying the Roxio Creator. The Creator app sounds pretty cool.
www.roxio.com/enu/product...default.html
You can also edit video with it, which may come in helpful too.
It's ironic... I have a 20+ year career in I.T., but when it comes to laptops (and PCs in general), I'm a little bit of a "user." My specialty are larger IBM systems, not PCs. I'll have to ask some of my geeky PC friends at work to help me determine if my laptop meets the requirements for either of the applications. Sigh.
