I'll be quitting my job at the end of the fiscal year to become a full time artist. People keep sending me invites to Linked In. Does anybody have experience with this? It seems to be yet another network, but for professionals. I'm quite the oddball with diverse and strange talents. I guess my question is, do you think this is a useful tool for a Pagan expert who is also a belly dancer, costume designer and charcoal/watercolor artist? I'm pretty reluctant to get on yet another network.

Re: Linked In
Fri, March 13, 2009 - 6:56 AMI'm on linkedin and I personally find it useful for my professional life where any type of networking is good (engineering). I don't have experience with it as a bellydancer, but it is useful for listing qualifications, education, work experience, professional society memberships. I don't recall a lot of personal information on there (such as religion, etc.). Is there a strong artist presence on there?

Re: Linked In
Fri, March 13, 2009 - 7:30 AMI'm on LinkedIn, and while I don't use it daily, I like that I have a strong network of artists and professionals there. I am also a member of several discussion groups for dance instructors and freelancers, as well as college alumni groups, which seem to have a wealth of experience and contacts just waiting to be tapped.
I'm all about the social networking, though, so I'm a bit biased. :D
