I've just starting looking into having some business cards made. After lots of searching and comparing prices, I came across creativebits.org/cool_busi...rd_designs which has sparked my imagination, and I thought some of you here may find some inspiration init to. So many brilliant ideas! I'm determined not to settle for regular business cards now.

While some creativity is good, I tend to find the oddly shaped or sized cards annoying and end up losing and/or tossing them. Also, make sure "creative" doesn't equal "hard to read" or "lacking essential info."

Sorry to pop in my two cents, but I've received way too many business cards that someone obviously put a lot of effort into, hoping to stand out to clients, but instead, they unintentionally sabotaged themselves.

I definitely agree. I went through the page with some friends and discussed the pros and cons of the more interesting ones. I think there's definitely a balance to be found between creative and practical.

That said, I do have a collection of pretty and strangely shaped business cards and flyers that I use as bookmarks or have stuck up on my walls and whiteboard.

(Oh, and I don't think you should ever apologise for giving your opinion - that's what this kind of place is all about)

I like the ones with the creative impressions (the dentist with teeth, the Elkha one with the tree) and the cute edge detail on the Darling House card. I feel like those touches add flair without distracting from the information on the card and without making the card difficult to store in your typical business-card holder.

I think many of these are probably design projects. Graphic designers do really unique stuff like this from time to time to push their own creativity, not necessarily in earnest. It helps keep them fresh and looking at objects in new ways. Just as for instance, though, I'd never go to a divorce lawyer whose card tore in half... it'd be too weird!
