Hey all!

My troupe has been getting a lot of requests for promo shirts and I'm not sure where to start. I can make the designs easily and I had a few made locally but I'm looking for a better place to purchase bulk clothing and get printing done so I can sell them at an affordable price. I've done some google-ing and emailing but I just don't know where to start...

Any recommendations? All help is appreciated! Thanks!!

If you're looking to sell T-shirts for a high profit, this probably won't help you much...but if you're looking to get a reasonable deal on t-shirts and get them out there for promotional reasons, then I would suggest CafePress.

With CafePress you can either buy a stockpile to sell for your choice of markup...or you can send people directly to the CafePress site and set the profit margin that you would like to get. You can also put your design on all sorts of merchandise without any up front costs (unless you choose to buy and stock the items).

I would suggest finding a good screen printer. There are tons of them out there... the Cafe Press stuff is OK but just not quite the quality of a good silkscreen. It doesn't really "Pop" or hold up as long. We try not to make shirt Orders of less than about 100 (mixed sizes). That seems to be the break point (for Us) where we can actually make a bit of money at the end (although it takes a bit to sell them).

For the shirts, try American Apparel and or Beli sp? Be aware that the prices you see for the various shirts are the full retail and that a silkscreener can make a bulk order for a lower price per shirt.

My partner screenprints shirts for lots of local and touring bands, local (SF) bars and clubs, businesses, artists, and others from all over. He currently works out of a shop in Oakland, California called Lucky Mule. They do great quality work.

Feel free to use my name when you call. Maybe you'll get the belly dancer 'bro deal'! ;)

I highly recommend Lucky Mule as well! I've worked with a lot of silkscreeners (and did it myself as well back in college) - these guys are awesome - TOP quality, great service, reliable!
