ok, this tribe is probably the place to ask - on the thread pages, there's now share links - what happens from them? I see one for fb but never see any "discussions" on fb, one reason I like tribe. Do Discussions really go to fb?

Re: re the Share buttons on the threads pages....
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 6:50 PMIt's just a link back. Goes to your profile, which isn't really a discussion place. It will hopefully drive more traffic back here, actually, which is why tribe undoubtedly added it. -

Re: re the Share buttons on the threads pages....
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 8:03 PMI just used the share function to MySpace for some promo work last week and it links right back to the Tribe event page I posted. It's really cool and saved me alot of work cross-promoting. Me like! =O)

Re: re the Share buttons on the threads pages....
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 8:42 AMThe Share buttons fit a new web phenomenon known as "social bookmarking".
The idea is that you publish your "bookmarks" or "favorites" on a public web site instead of merely saving them to your own computer. Other people can view your list of bookmarks for ideas on other sites to visit. It's sort of like being able to publish your very own links page without needing a web site to do it.
The social bookmarking sites such as furl, digg, delicious, etc. can be searched. So, if you came to one of those sites and wanted to know which belly dance sites were being bookmarked by the most people, you could search on "belly dancing" and see what comes up.
You'll also find social bookmarking links on bhuz and Oriental dancer.
If you look at the bottom of www.shira.net/index.html you'll see that I have put little icons for some of the more popular social bookmarking sites, inviting people to add Shira.net to their list of bookmarks. It's an experiment. Not sure how long I'll continue doing it.
